Beloved Reader,
There are things we want that we barely admit to ourselves.
A change we know we need to make.
A creative dream we keep putting off.
A boundary we know needs to be honored.
A relationship with ourselves we want to heal.
A version of ourselves we can almost feel — but haven’t quite given ourselves permission to become.
Sometimes we’ve told a trusted friend.
Sometimes we’ve written it in a journal.
And sometimes the desire has remained completely private.
I’ve been thinking a lot about those desires as I prepare for Navratri this year.
Because, in very plain language, this is part of what Navratri has come to mean to me:
It is a sacred opportunity to awaken our feminine power and bring greater balance to the places within us that have become dominated by often subtle yet powerful energies of fear, force, striving, control, self-doubt, or disconnection from our own inner knowing.
I’m not talking about men versus women.
We all carry masculine and feminine energies within us.
And when those energies fall out of balance, it can look like overriding our intuition, pushing past our bodies, believing we have to earn our worth, silencing our voices, staying small because we’re afraid, or allowing old beliefs to choose our lives for us.
Navratri gives us nine days to interrupt that pattern.
To pause.
To listen.
To remember what we actually know.
And perhaps even to begin seeing some of those secret desires differently.
Not as frivolous wishes.
Not as something we should talk ourselves out of.
But as sacred callings worthy of our attention.
Over the nine nights, we move through three expressions of the Divine Feminine.
Durga helps us look clearly and courageously at what stands between us and the life we know is calling.
Lakshmi asks us to nourish what is worthy, remember our value, and become more available to receive.
Saraswati helps us listen deeply enough to hear what wants to move through us — and then gives us the wisdom and voice to begin living it.
And then comes Vijayadashami: the victory.
Not victory over someone else.
Victory over the energy within us that has kept us disconnected from our own truth.
That is why I practice Navratri.
For me, these nine days create a sacred pause in ordinary life.
They give me space to honor all of myself — even the shadowy pieces I have ignored, judged, or secretly disliked.
They soften something in me.
They open my heart back toward myself.
And they remind me of what I truly value, what I truly deserve, and what I am willing to live.
I’ve been practicing Navratri in my own way for more than seven years.
This year, for the first time, I’m inviting you to practice with me.

Just bring your intention.
And your willingness to listen.
